ABSTRACT - DENTAL LEGAL MEDICINE IN THE FIELD OF MILITARY HEALTH CARE

Through forensic medical regulations, particular important medical acts about the legal and administrative implications, the economic outcomes and the remarkable social outlines, the dental surgeon Officer works between the right to health and the right to the place of employment, between the administrative functional requirements and the specific standards on labor: therefore, he should operate with high sense of responsibility by applying standard dispositions and procedures. In this document it will be assessed the odontostomatologic features of national and international laws that rule the military service qualification, such as the unconditional qualification, the working abroad qualification or the aviation qualification, highlighting the difference between the clinical entity of the disease and its forensic importance in the contest of masticatory inadequacy function. The aim of this work was also to investigate oral professional diseases and their distribution in some military rules, pilots and divers, who should classify as athletes, that is high performance sportsmen in condition of high stress. Barotrauma, barotoothpain, bruxism and temporo-mandibular joint disease are peculiar pathologies in this kind of workers. In pilots the occlusal balance reduces parafunctions and cranium-cervical pain, increasing performances. An individual occlusal byte allows to reduce tooth wear and improve neuromuscolar input newprogram. In divers an individual snorkel allows a better muscle selection, activity, balance and symmetry, decreasing pain postdive.
